TSi Power Corporation uninterruptible power supply (UPS) products
are available in rugged steel rack-mountable enclosures; compact with
extreme wide temperature batteries; and outdoor
IP44/NEMA 3R rated wall or pole-mountable enclosures. They are available with built-in
microprocessor-controlled line-interactive automatic voltage regulation,
over/under-voltage protection, surge protection with heavy-duty filtering, and
wide input voltage windows for long battery life. Long battery backup times
are available with extended battery packs.
Uninterruptible power supplies, also called
uninterruptible power systems, are for where uptime is critical to an
operation's mission fulfillment. Typical UPS backup times are usually less
than 20 minutes. If longer times are desirable, choose an uninterruptible
power supply with extra battery cabinet flexibility, and enough extra
reserve battery cabinets to satisfy your requirements.
Choosing the
optimal size UPS
Please remember that your measured current
draw is what will determine your backup time, not the nameplate ratings,
which sometimes are double what the actual amperage (or Watts) is that your
systems uses. (In other words, you're likely to be pleasantly surprised if
you base your backup time estimation on your nameplate ratings, but perhaps
not too happy if you find out you bought a UPS one or two sizes larger than
you really needed). You are welcome to call for a recommendation for your
application.
For calculating actual backup time, a good
rule of thumb is that if your actual load is 3/4 of the UPS capacity, you
usually can double your backup time, and if it is 1/2 loaded, you can
usually triple your backup time.
Of note, redundant uninterruptible power supplies,
and/or motor-generators or dc to ac inverters, are possible
by adding
an automatic transfer switch (ATS). Similar to the RAID concept of redundant
arrays of inexpensive hard drives, ATS enables redundant arrays of
inexpensive UPS. ATS are highly recommended for mission-critical systems. (Note for use of ATS:
Both input power sources must be UPS or inverters that
have pure sine wave output, even when
running off of the batteries ~ below, that would be the sine wave XUPs or
Premium Series, (or Outdoor XUPs on the Outdoor UPS page),
and for inverters, the XINv Inverter Series).
Typical uninterruptible
power supply applications are:
 |
File server and internet applications
To protect
your files and transactions and enable time to gracefully
shut down in case of an outage. |
 |
Cellular base stations, CCTV surveillance cameras, etc.
To keep systems up even in extreme weather conditions. |
 |
Telecommunication systems
To make sure the telephones
still work while the lights are out.

XUPs
These new state-of-the-art
heavy-duty UPS with pure sine wave output are housed in a rack-mountable 2U high rugged steel
enclosure. The XUPs Series provides UPS backup with line-interactive
automatic voltage regulation (AVR), over/under-voltage protection, surge
protection with heavy duty noise filtering and communications capability.
These units have a wide input voltage window which enhances battery life,
as most voltage fluctuations are handled without having to go to battery.
XUPs-600/1000 ~ 120vac, 600VA and 1000VA,
XUPs-HV units are the same as above uninterruptible
power systems, configured for 230V with IEC 320 plugs and receptacles.
XUPs-600HV/1000HV
~
230vac,
600VA and 1000 VA.

Premium UPs
Ferroresonant
voltage regulating isolation transformer 'no-break' UPs system with communications capability and
connectors for adding extra battery cabinets. This is a heavy duty
uninterruptible power system with a constant voltage pure sinewave output.
UPs-10000-16000-21000
~
120vac, 750, 1000 and 1500VA.
(230V models available).

Flexible UPs
Basic uninterruptible power system backup with communications capability,
good surge protection, plus flexibility of adding extra battery
cabinets for longer battery backup times.
UPs-600 ~ 120vac, 600VA.
UPs system, with wide temperature battery
system for extreme climate
conditions. Includes communications capability, surge protection and
filtering, and built-in battery connector for adding additional battery
cabinets.
UPs-400Wtb ~ 120vac, 400VA.
Please note: The Flexible Series UPS do not provide automatic voltage
regulation (AVR). If AVR is desired, please see the XUPs Series or Premium
Series systems above.
Automatic voltage regulation lengthens battery life as UPS with AVR do not
have to exercise the batteries during brownouts, thereby lengthening battery
life.

Rack-mounting kits
These enable many of TSi's products to be placed virtually
anywhere that fits your space considerations. This includes desktop
and floor mount options. If a rack mount UPS system configuration
is what you require, all of TSi's UPS systems are designed to accommodate
most standard component rack enclosures. With a simple rack mount kit
option, you can place your TSi UPS, and/or automatic
transfer switch, in either a 19", 23", and 24" rack and
facilitate the space requirements of your systems, not the UPS system or ATS.
